    7330 Wellness/Fitness

    Grade: 11-12

    5 Credits

    Semester Prerequisite(s): None

     

    Students will take part in a high caliber Physical Education environment while taking part in learning the importance and benefits of a well-balanced diet and a regular activity plan. Students will take part in forming short and long term activity goals as a lifelong skill. Students will participate in the “Personal Best” fitness testing.

     

    Throughout the semester students will participate in a series of units with focus on the tournament portion of each unit. Skills, strategies, techniques, and games will be incorporated into student learning. Units will include but should not be limited to lifetime activities such as tennis, bowling, basketball, golf, volleyball, and weightlifting. Assessments will include skill testing and written testing. This course runs for one semester. All participants are required to wear a Holy Cross PE uniform.


     

    7320 Skills and Strategies

    Grade: 11-12

    5 Credits

    Semester Prerequisite(s): None

     

    Students will take part in a high caliber Physical Education environment where the focus is on the development of individual and team skills, rules, etiquette, and strategies of various sport and activity units. These units will include but should not be limited to include soccer, field hockey, touch football, basketball, track, tennis, weightlifting, aerobics, dance, volleyball, fishing, team handball and golf. Units will also cover rules, regulations and infractions, court/field dimensions, length of games, scoring, and number of participants, necessary equipment, and officiating. The students will be given a written test and/or a skill test for each unit. All participants are required to wear a Holy Cross PE uniform.
