Holy Cross Academy Students Pack “Sweet Cases” for Foster Children
The travel suitcases will be personalized and packaged with goods for foster children to use in their future homes.
Delran, NJ – On Monday, November 28, 2016, approximately 50 students at Holy Cross Academy will package and donate 40 sweet cases, which are duffel bags filled with toys, hygiene products, and blankets, to New Jersey’s Foster and Adoptive Family Services.
Partnering with national nonprofit, Together We Rise, the students of Holy Cross Academy’s Key Club raised over $1,000 to purchase duffel bags and items to package inside. The students will decorate the bags and prepare them to be distributed to children in foster care through Foster and Adoptive Family Services, the leading New Jersey advocacy agency for foster families. The bags will replace the trash bags that children in foster care are known to use for traveling between homes.
Foster and Adoptive Family services will distribute the duffle bags among children and families on Giving Tuesday, November 29. The agency provides support and training to foster, adoptive and kinship parents throughout the state.
The event is part of the school’s own Giving Tuesday campaign, which is collecting contributions towards a Classroom of the Future, equipped with communal-style seating and an interactive Promethean Board.
